From The Director

Dear Friends,

As we prepare for celebrating with family and friends giving thanks for all God has done and enjoying His bountiful provision, may we remember those who struggle to put food on the table or to meet basic human needs.

This is the time of year when we especially seek your help for meeting the needs of our partners as they reach out to those who are suffering physically and to those who have not yet heard the good news of the gospel.

We received the following note from Pastor Frank in India: “Humbling ourselves before God while thanking him for guiding and leading us…and steering us through every situation that came our way thereby protecting us and turning everything for good that we may taste the goodness of His love in our lives and ministry.”

He goes on to say that this is the busiest time for them as they make plans to feed street children and the poor, provide poor women with new clothing, give gifts to each of the children’s home children and an annual gift to bless each of the pastors and their families. The special programs they conduct attract both believers and non-believers alike and afford them the opportunity to show the love of God through their acts of love and service.

Persecution of Christians in India is widespread and on the increase. This creates new challenges for evangelistic outreach. Each of our mission partners has faced threats or experienced some kind of attack. Pastor Frank hinted at the difficulties they’ve experienced when he mentions God’s protection and turning everything for good.

One of our partners in another state in India was attacked as he and helpers were distributing Bibles in a village. All the Bibles were taken from them, they were forced to go to the police station where they were booked and held for hours before finally being released. Their plea to us is that we pray for them to be faithful in sharing the gospel regardless of circumstances. Pray that God would bring to faith many who attend the special holiday outreach events that they also sponsor, and for the resources to meet the expenses.

The administrator of the mission schools in Haiti wrote a note of thanks for the support sent enabling him to pay his teachers but he added that they still owe a significant sum. We would like to ensure that he can pay the remaining salaries before the end of the year as an encouragement to the teachers who have been remarkably patient.

Finally, school is out for the holidays in Oduwo Village, Kenya, and Julian is concerned for the children who have little to do and even less to eat. EWI will assist in ensuring that she can feed those in her care. She would like to provide special programs including a Vacation Bible School during December. Her desire is to keep the children close and active and provide protection for the girls of 12 years and older who are considered of marriageable age.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving,

Annette Jones
