Why We Do It
- We believe there is a Biblical precedent. Effective communication of the gospel in the early church was almost always the responsibility of those who spoke the language. When many of the foreigners living in Jerusalem were converted, they went back to their own people to share the gospel. Many of the missionaries were chosen because they knew the culture and the language.
- There is a need for outside support when the missionary goes into an area that has no church. Locals will not support him and self-support may be impossible.
- While fully encouraging the sending of missionaries from anywhere to anywhere, we believe that, with increasing unrest and suspicion of and resistance to foreign influence, circumstances require that national Christians be empowered to do the work of evangelism and nurturing.
